ACDB and DCDB boxes are essential for safe electricity use as they act as circuit breakers when there is uncontrolled energy or a power surge in the electric wires leading to the distribution board.
ACDB, or Alternating Current Distribution Box, is installed between the solar inverter and household appliances. The main components of an ACDB box include:
AC Surge Protection Device (SPD), which guards against power surges by grounding the excess voltage.
AC Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) for low current circuits, or an AC Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) for high current circuits, which disconnects the circuit during high voltage events.
DCDB, or Direct Current Distribution Box, is installed between the solar panels and the inverter. This box protects the solar inverter and panels from high voltage and short circuits.
A DCDB box includes a DC SPD to protect against surges, a DC MCB, and a fuse that disconnects the circuit in case of high voltage.
